Rome Serving at The Helping House
This last Friday, the Regents upper school students in Rome spent the morning serving at The Helping House. The Helping House is a resource center and private school with the following mission statement: “Our primary purpose is to provide early intervention services to local children with a diagnosis on the autism spectrum and other sensory and developmental delays.” This weekend The Helping House had a garage sale, so Rome went to help them prepare. The items for the garage sale needed to be moved down from the attic and collected in the gym, where the students sorted them by category and corralled loose items into totes that could be easily carried out the next day. The more artistically inclined students in Rome did a lovely job creating signs for the sale. Rome worked together well and proved the saying, “Many hands make light work.”
