Following our Lord’s command to love God with all our strength, Regents’ athletics program exists to cultivate the good of the whole person, soul, and body. Such a full-orbed Christian anthropology is directed at perfecting inherent human abilities. Thus, our sports offerings are just as much about education as our academics. Sports require mental discipline, focus, and perseverance, all of which are transferable qualities in life. And proper use of one’s body is central to the moral and spiritual life, hence why Aristotle thought it axiomatic that a man with an undisciplined body would find it difficult to be brave.
