Student life at Regents Academy is varied, emphasizing both individual development and community. Students participate in extracurricular activities, trips, special events, and class activities, often grouped with younger or older students and adults. The goal of academy life at Regents is to create a God-honoring school community which will facilitate accomplishing our mission and vision in the students' lives.
Here are some snapshots of a few elements of academy life at Regents.
Morning Assembly
Each morning students KPrep through 12th grade and their teachers gather in the Great Room for Scripture reading, prayer, singing, and catechism, beginning the day with devotion to God and His Word. Visiting pastors occasionally come to Morning Assembly to share a brief devotional and biblical challenge.
Extracurricular Activities
Students participate in music programs, debate, school newspaper, yearbook, speech and academic competitions, choir, taekwondo, and culinary club.
Sports
Junior high and high school students participate in co-ed soccer, basketball, co-ed cross country, and co-ed track and field during the school year. Team sports glue students together as they practice and compete under the Lordship of Christ.
Christmas and Spring Music Programs
Students present musical and poetic pieces in the best of classical, sacred, and folk traditions for a packed house of parents and guests at Christmas time and in the spring.
The BIG Serve
The "BIG" in the BIG Serve stands for Blessed In Giving, and that is how the students feel when they devote a day each spring to serving their community and school. In 2010 the whole student body served through such community organizations as Love INC, Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful, and the Chamber of Commerce. Students and families also raised nearly $30,000 for the school's building fund through a letter-writing campaign.
Field Trips
From trips to see plays and nature programs to historical tours of downtown Nacogdoches to marine wildlife trips to Galveston, students enjoy dozens of field trips throughout our region to enhance the studies that go on each day in the classroom.
Holiday Parties
Students love food, and holidays provide a wonderful occasion for students to gather for food and fellowship. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, and Easter all serve as times for fun, food, and community building.
Field Day
Each spring the students gather into teams -- each led by a senior -- to compete for bragging rights. After a morning of games and competitions, students and parents enjoy a cookout together.
